Open the Record of Decision

Dear Editor:Good news! It seems Aspenites are getting closer to agreeing on what the community will support for the solution to the Entrance. But I doubt it’s the preferred alternative. The solution is most probably a combination of ideas.Whether you want a roundabout at Cemetery Lane, a grade separated exchange at Truscott, four lanes unrestricted, a short cut through the bus round-about, an aerial system, widening of the S-curves or the split shot … nothing can be done until the record of decision is re-opened. Nothing. The only way anything can be done differently is to re-open the record of decision. Until it is re-opened, none of these great solutions can be implemented. The only ones who can re-open are … Aspen’s elected officials. How? By writing a letter to CDOT asking that the record of decision be re-opened.Toni KronbergAspen
