Open house set to introduce director of schoolhouse

Aspen Times Staff Report

The Little Red Schoolhouse in Snowmass Village will host an open house Tuesday to introduce new director Judy Oakes to the community.

The event, including tours of the schoolhouse and Hildur Anderson Toddler Center, will run from 5 to 7 p.m.

“I look forward to working in Snowmass Village and to take on the many challenges which lie ahead,” said Oakes. “Among my goals are to maintain quality in the classroom and administration while providing a safe, nurturing and inspirational environment for the children.”

Oakes most recently worked at the Early Learning Center in Aspen as a substitute director and infant program supervisor. She received a certificate in early childhood education in 1984 and has participated in numerous classes, workshops, and conferences related to child growth and development. Additionally, Oakes has experience in human resources tasks, record keeping, accounting, budgeting, fund-raising and grant writing.

The Little Red Schoolhouse and Hildur Anderson Toddler Center are Snowmass Village’s sole providers of nationally accredited early childhood education. Their mission is to establish and nurture in children and their families the joy of lifelong learning and creative expression.

A limited number of spaces are available at the toddler center and schoolhouse. The facilities are located in the historic red building at 4598 Owl Creek Road in Snowmass Village. For more information about the open house or the programs at the Little Red Schoolhouse, call 923-5020.
