Open house on Hunter-Smuggler plan set for Thursday

ASPEN – The Aspen-Sopris Ranger District of the White River National Forest is accepting comments on the proposed projects outlined in the Hunter Creek-Smuggler Mountain Cooperative Plan this month. A public open house on the projects will take place from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Rio Grande Room, located off Galena Plaza in Aspen.

The Hunter-Smuggler planning area consists of 4,681 acres adjacent to Smuggler Mountain Open Space and private property near Aspen. The plan proposes wildlife-habitat, forest-health and recreation projects. View the plan at http://www.hunter-smugglerplan.com.

Public comments are requested by April 29; the public is invited to identify resource issues and concerns as well as how they may be addressed. Written, facsimile, hand-delivered, oral and electronic comments will be accepted. Electronic comments may be submitted at https://cara.ecosystem-management.org/Public/CommentInput?Project=41413, or call 970-945-3312 for more information.
