Only the high-end survive

Dear Editor:

“Shop local” must be aimed at the millionaires.

Jim Cox has kicked out long-term shops – Bloomingbirds (33 years), The Optical Shop (40 years) and the Ute City Bank for higher-end patrons.

Nikos Hecht has gotten rid of Cooper Street Pier, The Red Onion (as we knew it), the Steak Pit and more for the same reason.

Most of downtown Aspen has lost its charm, local flavor and patronage. This saddens me tremendously.
