One strong emotion for Lift 1A proposal

Dear Editor:

Regarding the Lift 1A proposal being sent to the City Council, I am beyond words.

If this new proposal is accepted and a hotel and quad high-speed lift with escalator to get to it is approved, I only have one emotion, and it is very strong. It makes me sad.

Seriously, we are selling our soul; 1A is arguably the best ski area on the planet, and we are selling out to development. That part of town is our last link to our history and heritage as a ski town. It is the best ski area because it lacks overcrowding. To change it as much as this proposal suggests is beyond words.

I implore the City Council to stick to their guns. Deny this request and leave the original plan already approved as it is. Immediately, and for the long run, that is what is best for Aspen, financially, and emotionally.

Keep Aspen green and open.

Mike Marolt
