One-stop ticket buying in Aspen
September 29, 2007
ASPEN ” Buying tickets to events in Aspen just got a whole lot easier.
With a sweep of the public relations magic wand and a new business license, the box office in the lobby of the Wheeler Opera House is now Aspen Show Tickets.
The change reflects the Wheeler’s longstanding practice of selling tickets to just about any Aspen happening, from “Hamlet” to hockey.
Customers can buy tickets at the box office, online, or by phone for events such as Jazz Aspen Snowmass, Theater Aspen and Santa Fe Ballet, among others.
Organizers decided to rename the service to avoid any confusion, according to Heather Larson, programs manager at the Wheeler.
“It makes it more convenient for the patrons,” Larson said. “It’s really just to reflect our involvement in other areas of the community.”

Comments from customers inspired the rebranding, Larson said.
“We were getting feedback from people that we could have a name that better reflected part of what we do,” Larson said. “There’s just a wide variety of things, and our list of clients is continuing to grow.”
Aspen Show Tickets staff charges a sign-up fee to event planners hoping to sell tickets, and collects a percentage of ticket sales and a fee for credit card use.
All profits go to the city-owned Wheeler Opera House, Larson said.
“We just basically added a new name and put a new face on it, but we’re still part of the Wheeler,” Larson said.
