One dead, one injured in Glenwood Springs shooting

GLENWOOD SPRINGS – At approximately 11 p.m. Wednesday one man died and another was injured as a result of a shooting at an apartment complex south of town at 1573 County Road 154, according to a statement from the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office.

Both shooting victims were transported to Valley View Hospital, where one person was later pronounced dead. The other victim was transported to Denver for additional care, according to the statement.

The suspect fled the scene. Investigators are looking for Fredy Cabrera, 39, in connection with the shooting.



A description of the suspect or any other identifying information has not been released, but Garfield Sheriff’s Office spokesman Walt Stowe urged the public to be cautious.

“Continue to go about your normal routine, just be a little more wary and don’t pick up any hitchhikers,” Stowe said.




The Colorado Bureau of Investigation has been called in to help in the investigation.
