CARBONDALE – A one-car rollover sent two people to the hospital and closed the eastbound or upvalley lanes of Highway 82 for a short time Tuesday afternoon.

The accident occurred about 4:20 p.m. at mile marker 17, close to the Cerise Ranch subdivision. Details of the accident weren’t available from the Colorado State Patrol as of press time.

Police dispatchers told rescuers responding to the scene that “several people” were attempting to help people out of the vehicle. Ambulance crews from Basalt and Carbondale responded. Two people were taken to Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs with injuries that weren’t life-threatening. One person declined transport by an ambulance.

Traffic was flowing again by 4:38 p.m., when one eastbound lane reopened. One downvalley lane closed temporarily to help with the rescue operation.
