On track to downsizing

(This letter was originally addressed to the Snowmass Village Town Council.)

We applaud the Town Council’s sponsored Community Forum Series. We believe that the Council was impressed with the attendees’ concerns over the excesses represented in the Center Redevelopment and Base Village applications, and the concern that Council needs to seek, and share with the community, clarification of our current competitive situation.

While time will tell if Council will adequately address more of the questions raised during the Forum Series, we were delighted to hear the mayor express the intention to move to downsize the proposed developments. It should be obvious to all that community consensus is forming around support for both proposed projects but at heights and masses closer to those anticipated in the Comprehensive Plan.

We want you to know that we at The Crestwood have supported “right-sized” development at Base Village from the beginning. We look forward to Council’s follow-through with its inquiries into public sentiment and concern, and Council’s support for downsizing the two major applications presently under consideration.
