On The Hill: Take a long strange trip through the Jerry Garcia shrine
VIDEO: Aspen locals said goodbye to a ski freak-friendly institution on Saturday when Johnny McGuires was sent off with music, cold beverages and a gathering of the vibes one last time under the long shadow of Aspen Mountain. Today seems like a good time to take a run through the Jerry Garcia shrine on Aspen Mountain, where the spirit of the late Grateful Dead singer keeps a squinty eye on his flower children.
On the Hill is brought to you by The Steadman Clinic and the Steadman Philippon Research Institute.

ASPEN TIMES FIELD REPORT: The mountains seem like they are melting down more and more every day. The top of the mountain skied pretty hard and crusty mid-morning, while the mid-mountain and bottom were nice and slushy. Be careful off of the groomers, as bare patches are starting to show in many popular glades and bump runs. Bring sunscreen and dark goggles, and think about ditching the warm layers. It’s a t-shirt ski day!
LIFT LINE STATUS: Boogie right up and jump on, Jack!
LISTENING TO: Grateful Dead “Althea”
