On The Hill: Powder still abounds on the day after "Big Wednesday"
VIDEO: Yesterday is destined to become “Big Wednesday” forevermore in skiing Aspen lore, with knee to hip-deep champagne powder inundating Aspen Snowmass. Today the sun is out, the sky is blue, and untracked powder still awaits the intrepid adventurer who enjoys skiing the trees. Aspen Times mountain correspondent Corby Anderson even finds freshies on Buttermilk this morning.

And now, an Ode To Big Wednesday
by Corby Anderson:
This town walks funny in February. The local cops, musicians, waitresses, brew hall retirees, journalists (especially the journalists) and the like possess the gait of cartoon cowboys sauntering out to the middle of a mud-rutted road a minute before noon.
The soft shocks and swivels of their hips and knees have been replaced temporarily by redwood burls and 1959 Bluebird bus brake rotors. The pliable cartilage that serves to hurl them down steep mountains in smooth sweeps and great, smoky leaps turned to iron by, of all things, champagne powder.
Give these fused fornicators a tub of boiling water, enough beer, a pile of meat and a sprig of kale, a glimpse of the other sex sans-base layer, a midnight blizzard, and a good, clean four hours of sleep and they refresh in shocking fashion, running into dawn light, headed Back Up, going right back to their noodle-legged ways.
LIFT LINE STATUS: Ski right up and jump on!
