Oilfield services firm eyes De Beque site
Aspen, CO Colorado
DENVER ” One of the world’s largest oilfield services companies wants to establish a hub to serve the growing energy industry in western Colorado.
Houston-based Schlumberger Limited is buying a 375-acre parcel near De Beque from resident Tom Latham. De Beque is west of Parachute along the Interstate 70 corridor.
A company spokesman declined to divulge financial terms of the sale to The Denver Post. Latham says Schlumberger is seeking county and town approval of its plans for the land before the sale closes.
Schlumberger purchased technology last month for extracting heavy oil and oil shale from defense contractor Raytheon.
Several companies are researching oil shale development on the Western Slope
