Offseason brings change to Aspen bus service, parking

ASPEN – April brings reductions in the city of Aspen’s bus service but also the addition of free parking on Saturdays in the downtown core.

Free downtown parking for the spring offseason begins April 14. Paid parking remains in effect on Monday through Friday; parking is always free on Sundays.

The city’s Castle Maroon, Cemetery Lane, Hunter Creek and Mountain Valley bus routes will operate from roughly 7 a.m. to midnight during the offseason, Monday through Saturday, from April 9 to June 15. On Sundays from April 22 to June 15, those buses will run from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Burlingame/Highway 82 route will operate daily from 6:15 a.m. to 11:55 p.m., with hourly service, from April 9 to June 15.

The Cross Town and Galena Street shuttles will be ceasing operation for the spring on April 15. The Highlands direct shuttle will end service on April 22, but Highlands and other destinations on Maroon Creek Road will continue to be served by the Castle/Maroon bus in the spring, summer and fall.

On Fridays and Saturdays during the offseason, High Mountain Taxi will provide free late-night service from the Rubey Park bus station to any city of Aspen bus stop. The rides will be available at 12:30, 1, 1:30 and 2 p.m.
