Offensive remark

I take great offense to the mayor of Snowmass Village’s smart-ass remark (as reported in the Aspen Daily News) that people have tried to do theater (in Snowmass) and three people showed up. I’m sorry that the mayor’s memory is so impaired that he’s forgotten the packed houses, in what now is the Bedford Center, for such wonderful Snowmass Repertory Theater productions as “Amadeus,” “Noises Off,” “Little Shop of Horrors” and many more.

If the mayor and Town Council are so concerned with arts in Snowmass, why are they sitting on their hands while Jazz Aspen Snowmass is negotiating with Aspen to move the June Festival out of their town?

Boone Schweitzer raised an excellent question at this fall’s Hot Air Balloon Festival. Why doesn’t the council spend our money to promote those activities that are proven winners? That might be a better use of time than making glib comments that disparage the huge efforts of so many villagers to bring great events to Snowmass.
