Obituary: Kerri Lea Hamouz

Kerri Lea Hamouz of Aspen died on Jan. 20 at Aspen Valley Hospital. She was 46.

She had lived in Aspen for many years. Hamouz was a former forest ranger and had also worked as a personal banker.

She was born March 11, 1957, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Harry Dwight Wagner and Gerri Howitz Wagner. She graduated from Mesa High School in Mesa, Ariz., and attained a bachelor of science in forestry at Colorado State University.

She married Jim Hamouz in Aspen. She belonged to St. Mary’s Catholic Church. As well as being “the perfect mom,” she loved her cat Spencer, music, movies and romance novels.

She is survived by her husband, Jim, daughter Whitney Hamouz, brother Mark Wagner and mother Gerri Wagner.

A memorial service is being held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aspen today at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Michael O’Brien officiating. She is being cremated.

Farnum Holt Funeral Home in Glenwood Springs is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kerri Hamouz Memorial Fund, in Whitney’s name, at Vectra Bank.
