Stephen Pudney Hall
January 9, 2019
Stephen Pudney Hall passed away peacefully at his home on December 21, 2018, just 3 days before his 68th birthday. He was surrounded by his loving family, his wife Lelia Nugent Hall, and his three daughters Elisabeth Hall Flynn, Lindsay Graves and Katie Ambrosini.
Steve was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, IL to William Pudney Hall and Ann Emerson Hall. He was the oldest of 5 children, with Christopher, Jonathan, David and Betsy following (or not following) his lead. He grew up with the love of sports, speed and music. He earned his undergraduate degree at Harvard, played football and then proceeded to Stanford for his MBA. He earned his CPA and was a Chief Financial Officer for many biotech companies. While at Harvard, he met the love of his life, Lelia (Lee).
After many years in Chicago and Kansas, a job opportunity called Steve and family to the mountains of Aspen. Steve's love for skiing, biking, and hiking captured his heart. With a big grin, he shared he had best office view of skiers flying down the front of Aspen.
In 2001, Steve and Lee ventured out to Chapel Hill, NC where Steve coordinated the sale of Tripath Imaging in 2006 and thereafter continued his strategic financial work for four other companies in the New England area. Several of his contributions resulted in advancements such as IPOs or FDA approvals.
Steve was known for his speed behind the wheel, his love of watching his daughter's athletics, his devotion to his family including his 8 grandchildren, his witty humor yet calming nature, and his booming voice singing Handel's Messiah or just at home with his girls. He had a larger than life personality and enjoyed conversation with everyone he met. He was the rock to his adoring wife, Lee, and their sweetheart love remained strong for over 43 years. He will be greatly missed and we will always remember his Papa Bear hugs and 'benchers' in life.
A memorial will be held in his honor on Saturday January 19th 2019 at 11:00a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 536 W. North Street Aspen, CO with Rector Jonathan Brice and Father Brian Larkin from Denver. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Aspen Choral Society http://www.aspenchoralsociety.org.
