Kim Moody

Beloved Mom, sister and friend, Kim Moody Floria, died on Monday, January 28, in Burbank, California. Kim was an artist, highly respected massage therapist and more recently became a yoga instructor in the Roaring Fork Valley. She was a free spirit, who brought Love and Joy to everyone who knew her. She is survived by sons, Jake and Jesse, brother, Tony, sister, Leslie and mother, Martha as well as father to her sons, David Floria, nieces Georgia and Darla and nephews Andre, Paul, Jeff, Will, Conner, TJ and cousins Fred & Virgie Ford.

Kim was born in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, to architect Anthony Moody and artist Martha McClintock Moody. They divorced when Kim was 2. Her father moved to New York City and her mother moved the family to La Jolla, California. Kim and her sister Leslie grew up in California during the school year and traveled to New York in the summer, visiting family in Michigan along the way. Kim graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Kim had a wanderlust spirit and enjoyed traveling, first in Europe, later in South America. She lived in Sweden, as a college exchange student, Brazil, as a vocalist & musician and finally settled in Barcelona, Spain for 5 years where she studied art and worked as an actress, model and translator for the American team at the Summer Olympics in Barcelona, 1992. She returned to the U.S in 1992 and lived with her aunt Merrill Ford in Aspen. It was there that she met and married gallery owner, David Floria. They made a happy home in Basalt and raised their wonderful sons, Jake and Jesse.

In 2017 Kim and David divorced and Kim moved to Hood River, Oregon to live with her sister, Leslie Moon. They both moved to Burbank, California in 2018, to care for their mother after a stroke. Kim enjoyed a family Christmas before her life was tragically ended. She will be widely and sorely missed. A Celebration of her life in the Roaring Fork Valley will be announced.
