Kevin Michael Doyle

May 24, 1958, Year of the Dog — Aug. 28, 2018, Year of the Dog

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kevin Doyle. He was taken from us too soon by a heart attack.

Kevin Michael Doyle arrived in Aspen from Newport Beach, California at the age of 18 in 1976 and began a wild, crazy journey which led him to wear many hats along the way. His work included but was not limited to construction, ski instructor for the Aspen Ski Co., a gregarious longtime waiter at the Mother Lode Restaurant, the first director of Aspen Junior Golf, a beautiful and graceful skier, and in the process, he developed a reputation of being a “renaissance man.” Among his many talents was how very funny and unique he was, no matter the occasion Kevin could always light up a room.

Kevin moved to Cedaredge, CO and became a vintner and created Woody Creek Cellars.

Many remember his familiar Aspen presence at the Aspen Saturday Market along with many other across the state with his Oriental rugs rolled out to receive his passersby with a welcome offering of handmade wines. A a man always ahead of his time, the most recent endeavor he was working on was growing hemp to produce CBD oil.

He had a good heart, always meant well, and told the most witty jokes as well as guffawed at other peoples’ jokes. One thing that many people don’t know is the beautiful and meaningful poems Kevin wrote on a daily basis. No matter what he did he always gave 100%, he never gave up when times got tough and set an example to make the most of what you have even if it’s just a little. He was an old soul, free spirit, local character and died happily trying.

He is survived by his two beautiful children, Keaton and Tommy, who, to this day continually carry his unique spirit, love for life and his sassy wit. He is also survived by his Mother, Doris Doyle, uncle Leo Doyle and his two brothers, Brian and Gary Doyle.

We will miss his ebullient personality and spark for life. In three words, Kevin could be summed up as “Living the Dream”.

A celebration of Kevin’s life will be announced at a later date sometime in the end of October or early November. Any questions or comments may be directed to his daughter, Keaton Doyle; keatzg518@gmail.com.
