Obit: John Peter Kockx

John Peter Kockx, a longtime resident of Aspen, died Aug. 12.

Kockx was born in Detroit, Mich., on March 14, 1939. He served in the U.S. Navy, after which he spent 22 years in Aspen working as an electrical contractor in his business, Slow and Steady Power Company.

He moved his family to Sacramento 10 years ago. When not sharing time with his family and friends, his great loves were flying, golfing and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Kockx and Johanna Verduyn.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Hoban; son Martin Kockx; relatives Lee Haman and husband Art; Mary Ellen and David Thoene; John and Karon Hoban; Helen and David Brillant; Patrick and Diane Hoban; and many loving family members and friends.
