Numbers don’t lie

Dear Editor:

Regarding the Aspen Chamber Resort Association’s hesitancy to drop its membership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, one has to wonder about the benefits versus the arguments.

Given the preponderance of evidence that the world’s climate is changing rapidly, and the fact that the U.S. chamber gets 55 percent of its funding from 16 anonymous donors, 94 percent of whose support of candidates in the midterm elections deny climate-change science, why maintain membership?

If the U.S. chamber were to lose 94 percent of its national members, maybe it would reconsider its positions. It’s odd that a ski-resort chamber supports an organization that doesn’t believe one day we’ll have no snow in the winter if climate goes the way it is projected by the scientific world!
