Not a good fit

Dear Editor:

While it is a great idea to have a new art museum in a downtown accessible location, the architectural rendering of the new museum’s exterior shown in the paper sure doesn’t seem in keeping with Aspen’s mountain town “look.”

The architectural diagram shows a structure encircled by a multistory metal grill, making the building look more like a fortress, parking garage or jail. Is it possible to design an art museum building more in keeping with the rest of the community?

I’m hoping that the city approval will also allow for an architectural review of the final design.
