Nonprofits milk taxpayers
I am appalled that apparently there is so little opposition to the use of tax dollars to fund local nonprofits. It is morally repugnant and fiscally irresponsible to force taxpayers to fund nonprofits that they do not select.
There is no official oversight of how the money will be spent, whether it be for high salaries or stupid, ill-conceived projects. If the county wants to buy services from nonprofits that might be OK if there are clear deliverables of, for example, feeding the poor or animal shelters, along with timetables and standards for performance.

Volunteers are being sought by the city and county to serve on the Aspen-Pitkin County Housing Authority board. Over a dozen people have applied so far and today is the deadline.
