No truthiness to Colbert rumor

Dear Editor:Just to set straight the public record: There is no truthiness to the rumor that Stephen Colbert has agreed to appear at the Laugh Your Aspen Off comedy shows at the Eagles Club and lead everyone in the pledge of allegiance. It may be a noble idea, but Stephen’s advance team has not yet agreed to any such appearance. Granted, the eagle is the symbol of our great country. And Stephen did have a baby eagle named after him. I can understand the misunderstanding. And, despite whisperings to the contrary, just because he has NOT agreed to lead our ragtag comedy team and their enthusiastic audiences in the pledge does not mean he’s an America-hater. He probably does love America – Aspen included.Whoever started this rumor just didn’t appreciate how busy Mr. Colbert is. Stephen – if you are out there, please accept our apology for the misunderstanding. Any additional rumors you may have heard regarding free Jager shots and Swedish massage are probably equally dubious. Probably. To find out for sure, you can send one of your minions over to the Eagles Club: Thursday, March 1, at 9 p.m.; Friday, March 2, at 8 p.m.; or Saturday, March 3, at 7 p.m. Enjoy your stay in Aspen. We do.Mark ThomasLaugh Your Aspen OffGlenwood/Aspen
