Dear Editor:As the race director for the first Snowmass Village Half & Half 10K Mountain Challenge, I would like to express my sincerest heartfelt gratitude to all of the runners, volunteers and sponsors that made this inaugural event a huge success. All the proceeds will benefit the Aspen Homeless Shelter and Hospice of the Valley (approximately $2,000 raised). Thanks to our local sponsors: Aspen Valley Hospital, La Sportiva, Base Camp Bar/Grill, Aspen Skiing Co., Stonebridge Inn, Blazing Adventures, Taster’s Pizza, Base Village Conference Center/Snowmass Hospitality, Magic Buzz Coffee, The North Face, Generation Snowmass and Aspen Sports. I would also like to personally thank Dave Elkan (town of Snowmass Village), Brian Olson (Snowmass Police Department), Jerome Semecek (Base Village), Dave Dugan (Base Camp) and Scott Callahan (Base Camp/Magic Buzz) for making this a reality. Thanks also to Steve Sewell (Aspen Skiing Co.), Beth Albert (Snowmass Tourism), and Markey Butler (Snowmass Town Council), Russ Forrest (Public Works), Bob Nevins (town of Snowmass Village), as well as the U.S. Forest Service, Wildcat Fire District and as well as an anonymous local donor.
