No serious injuries in head-on wreck

Aspen Times Staff Report

Three people escaped serious injury in a head-on crash in the Snowmass Canyon section of Highway 82 Saturday morning, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

According to Trooper Joe Wilson, a 1982 Ford pickup driven by a white female was headed downvalley on Highway 82 when she apparently lost control and swerved into an approaching 1995 Eagle Talon, heading upvalley.

The accident occurred at approximately 8 a.m., Wilson said.

The driver of the Ford and the driver of the Eagle and her passenger were all transported to Aspen Valley Hospital with minor injuries, Wilson said. They were all treated and released, according to an AVH spokesperson.

“The road was snow covered, but there didn’t appear to be any ice,” Wilson said of the driving conditions.

The driver of the pickup was cited with “failing to drive in a single lane,” Wilson said.

The identities of the people involved in the wreck and other details of the accident were unavailable.
