No need for Aspen hospital election

ASPEN – There will be no need for an Aspen Valley Hospital board election this spring.
The seats held by Drs. Mindy Nagle and Barry Mink are up for election in May, but only the incumbents filed nomination papers for the election by Friday’s deadline. Monday was the deadline for a write-in candidate to file, and no one did.
The hospital district intended to conduct an election via mail-in ballot for the board of directors election on May 8, but with no one challenging the incumbents, no election will be necessary, according to district officials.
Mink will gain a third term on the board automatically, while Nagle will begin her second term. Hospital board members are elected to four-year terms, and there is no limit on how many terms they can serve.
In 2010, when three incumbents were up for election on the hospital board, no challengers stepped forward, and no election ultimately took place.
