No more Sunday Aspen Times
ASPEN ” Last Sunday, Jan. 11, numerous readers were confused because The Aspen Times failed to show up in their favorite rack.
We’re sorry for the confusion. We did try to warn everyone with a front-page letter from Publisher Jenna Weatherred on Dec. 31, but clearly that didn’t do the trick.
Here’s the deal: Because of a recession-related drop in advertising revenue, the Times has had to make a number of cost-cutting moves. These strategies have ranged from staff reductions to publishing fewer cartoons to eliminating our Sunday daily edition, our least profitable paper of the week.
We hate to make cuts like these, but hard times call for severe measures. We will continue to publish the daily newspaper Monday through Saturday, and the Aspen Times Weekly every Sunday, so look for the Weekly in the green boxes throughout the valley. For breaking news, sports events and anything else that happens over the weekend, please check our website, aspentimes.com.
