No more lights – learn to drive

Dear Editor:I read with great joy about the proposal to put yet another traffic light on Highway 82 (Aspen Times, Jan. 11). All we need is about four more and Hwy. 82 will be just like Seventh Ave. in New York City. A light on every corner.Instead of penalizing those of us who know how to drive, how about some of the less skilled drivers sharpening up their driving ability? How about no cell phones in the fast lane at 35 miles per hour. How about no eating and drinking while driving. How about not applying makeup. How about not (yes it’s true) reading while driving. German auto manufacturers don’t even install cup holders in their cars. When you drive you’re supposed to drive and that’s all. You are basically in control of a ton and a half of moving steel. C’mon folks, let’s tighten up here. Playing down to the lowest common denominator is not the way to go.Not to mention, every time the cars and trucks go through the gears is when the pollution spews. Please no more lights. EJ MaretCarbondale
