No love for Aspen Village

Dear Editor:

Can someone at RFTA publicly explain why the Woody Creatures and Snowmasstodons all get free bus service (the Woody Creatures have their own dedicated bus), yet the folks in Aspen Village got slammed with the highest per-mile rate increase of all the valley bus riders?

I know the rate increase was last year but I never got a private response to this question. I’d really like to know why folks that require no special services, ad are as close or closer to Aspen than Snowmass, have to pay $6 round trip to Aspen. Many of the people riding from Aspen Village are working for minimum wage and can least afford a 50 percent rate increase. I stopped riding the bus the day that rate increase was announced and started driving again because it was cheaper.

Yesterday was the first time I was forced to ride the bus from the village, and it’s still stinging that the fare is so high when those all around us receive free service. Please explain this inequity.
