No local flavor in Traverse coverage

Dear Editor:

Great coverage of the 15th annual Grand Traverse, but there was something missing. What about our local athletes?

I happen to know that a team of brothers who have raced 11 years of the Grand Traverse went Wille fast. An Aspen city councilman and his partner, a Realtor with an accent from New Zealand. A prominent outdoor gear store owner and his partner, an Aspen Skiing Co. lawyer with the combined age of 115 years, won the oldest team to finish. A former Olympian and his partner, an emergency-room doctor in Snowmass, won first team on nordic skis, and an amazing climbing team that happened to be married and to have competed in more then 10 Traverses, got third-place co-ed team.

I am a loyal Aspen Times reader, and I would appreciate some loyalty and coverage of our local athletes.

Beth Wille
