No laughter allowed

Dear Editor:

Don’t LOL at Jimmy’s. My husband and I came to Aspen for our second anniversary and to look at places to buy. After a wonderful day of skiing, our hotel, the St. Regis, recommended we go to Jimmy’s. I wasn’t too hungry so we decided to sit at the bar. We each had a martini, my husband had a salad and filet, and we were enjoying our Friday night. It was almost 6:30 p.m., and we met a lovely couple behind us who are Aspen locals; soon we struck up a conversation, laughing and having a great time.

Not long after a man came over and said it looked like we were having fun. We said we were and would he like to join us. He told us no, but that we needed to be quiet. I was so shocked. The locals we were sitting next to asked what he said, and they were shocked as well. I was astounded to find out that it was Jimmy himself, telling us on a Friday night at 6:30 p.m., after one drink, at the bar, not to laugh too loud!

We immediately asked for our tab, and our waiter seemed truly surprised as to why we were leaving. Over the next couple of days we have had quite a story to tell the St. Regis staff, and friends at Sky and Regal. From what we have found out around our visit, Jimmy was probably trying to impress some pretty young ladies at the bar. However, we say shame on you, Jimmy. And to the rest of Aspen, don’t laugh out loud when you are at his restaurant.
