No free lunch
Dear Editor:Free lunch is the deity in the religion called socialism. Socialists base their faith on the idea that they know what’s best for the rest of us. These people lure us with their faith-based belief that the best things in life are free. That is a bad idea for two reasons. One, socialists cannot admit they are wrong without their losing faith. Two, using government power to establish socialist programs that go wrong become problems that are impossible to correct.Socialists would rather the world end before they could admit their mistakes. The possibility of losing their faith and political power forces them into the impossible position of being wise enough to know what’s best for others when they are too dumb to learn from their own mistakes. The problem with socialist programs is obvious. There is no such thing as a free lunch. All the rest of us who have let socialism rule the day are left to help pay for it. For example, the U.S. Postal Service has turned out to be a costly problem that never gets fixed. We cannot correct this mistake when the faxes, e-mail, cell phones, UPS and FedEx are available. Financial problems with Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security aren’t mistakes, they are just perpetual fixer-uppers.When taxpayers get to the socialists’ Heaven, they will think it’s Hell.Be Brave Comrades.KNCB MooreAspen
