No free lunch

Dear Editor:We admire Mick Ireland’s intention to never accept free tickets to marquis events like Jazz Aspen Snowmass and Food & Wine, reported in today’s Aspen Times (“No free riding: Ireland will skip marquee events,” June 7).But the inference in Mick’s comments that Mayor Klanderud ever got free tickets to any JAS festival is false. To the contrary, she bought her own tickets starting years ago, before she was even mayor. During her four years as mayor, she never missed a festival, whether in downtown Aspen or Snowmass Town Park. And she always paid.In sum we’d like to thank both Helen for her support and Mick for rejecting freebies.Jim Horowitz,President/CEOJazz Aspen Snowmass
