No fast-tracking here
October 1, 2002
Contrary to Sven Alstrom’s letter in The Aspen Times on Sept. 30, the city HAS NOT decided whom to hire to develop either of the Burlingame parcels.
I do believe Sven misunderstood something I said several months ago, and I am sorry he didn’t talk with me to confirm what he thought he heard before he wrote his letter with incorrect information.
The city not only commissioned an in-depth housing analysis, but is developing new housing guidelines, and will soon proceed to establish the process whereby it will select a developer to build the highest quality project.
Quality will not be the victim of “fast-tracking” as Sven alleges. Nor is the city limiting the playing field for architects and contractors.
