No ‘equal time’ necessary

Dear Editor:

I have to take issue with your position that GrassRoots TV should show the anti-Holocaust video, “Judea Declares War on Germany.” Merely because someone believes something does not require that their belief be given “equal time.” Noted military historian Dennis Showalter of Colorado College once stated that the Holocaust is THE best documented event in history. There were thousands of witnesses, including the U.S. Army, the Red Army and the British 8th Army, not to mention the SS. There were civilian witnesses from Germany, Poland and half the countries of Europe. There has been testimony from Jewish prisoners, Gypsy prisoners and homosexuals who all witnessed it from inside the camps. Guards from the death camps have also testified to their own actions. The efficiency of the Nazi bureaucracy provided thousands of documents including orders, train schedules, death statistics reports, and, perhaps most chilling, complaints to the manufacturers of the crematoria, and reports to I.G. Farben about the efficacy of their product Zyklon-B used to gas the prisoners.

The supporters of the video can believe whatever they wish. However, it makes no sense to urge GrassRoots to show a video that has no basis in reality and that plays to the paranoia or hatred of Holocaust deniers. GrassRoots isn’t censoring the video, just denying use of their forum for a piece of propaganda without merit.
