BASALT – The Basalt tree lighting ceremony will be held in Lions Park from 3-5:15 p.m. Saturday.

Santa Claus will make an appearance in the park and horse-drawn wagon rides will be available up Midland Avenue. The Basalt Lions will offer free hot chocolate and goodies and the Boy Scouts will tend to fire pits. The Basalt High School Choir will sing holiday songs. The tree will be lit by Basalt Mayor Leroy Duroux at 5:15 p.m.

BASALT – The winter market has returned for a third season at the Willits Town Center. It will be held each Saturday through Feb. 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.



Organizers said 30 vendors will sell produce, eggs, meat, cheese, bread, pasta, baked goods, wine, soups, cider, honey, coffee, jewelry, art, apparel and holiday gifts. New vendors this year are Blossomwood Cidery, Crystal River Meats, Ruby’s Chocolates, Tylerware’s artisan wood bowls, In the Soup, Melia Design, Lunar Designs and Field Florals, which is selling Christmas wreaths.

The Basalt Chamber of Commerce is helping present the winter market.
