ASPEN – The Winterskl Committee and Aspen Chamber Resort Association have selected “Winterskl 2012: To Die For” as the official slogan for the 61st annual Winterskl celebration set for Jan. 12-15. The winning slogan was submitted by Mark Thomas. He will receive a pass to the 2012 Food & Wine Classic in Aspen. The slogan will appear on buttons and in other promotional and advertising materials for Winterskl.More than 115 people submitted slogans this year. Dave Martin’s submission (“Winterskl 2012: Stick a Roaring Fork In It”) was a close runner-up and another favorite of the committee.Past Winterskl winning slogans include 2008’s “Some Like it Hot,” 2009’s “Powder Days & Stellar Nights,” 2010’s “Epic Steeps and Decades Deep” and 2011’s “A Cut Above.”For more information or to get involved in this year’s event, call Julie Hardman, ACRA special events manager, at (970) 920-7146 or via email at jhardman@aspenchamber.org.

ASPEN – Active Communications has opened an AT&T retail store in Aspen’s North Mill Station shopping center near Clark’s Market. The new location showcases a wide range of cell phones and accessories, including the latest in mobile devices such as the LG Thrill 4G, HTC Status, Samsung Infuse 4G and the iPhone 4. The store is open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Chris Pagan and Oscar Sarabia are assisting businesses and consumers with purchasing decisions and technical support. AT&T will offer a free AT&T Impulse 4G to any customers who purchase a two-year service agreement and data plan. BASALT- Basalt Health and Fitness is sponsoring a fundraiser Wednesday for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. All classes that day will be donation-based, and open to non-members. Classes of various types begin at 5:30 a.m. and continue in the evening.Participants and donors in the class that raises the most money will win a 30-day free membership at Basalt Health and Fitness. Existing members will earn an extension. Additional prizes will be awarded for larger contributions from St. Jude’s.
