BASALT – Basalt Health and Fitness won the crown this year in the “best decorated business” holiday contest sponsored by the Basalt Chamber of Commerce.

The gym at 0082 Duroux Lane decorated for the holidays by hanging scores of ornaments inside and featuring an outdoor lighting display prepared by Holiday Magic. There were icicles, blue lights, live trees wrapped in lights, and boughs and garlands.

The contest winner was selected by popular vote, with a close outcome among several participating businesses, according to the chamber.

In the cookie baking contest at the Willits Holiday Celebration, three judges picked “Grandma’s Swedish Shortbread Cookie” as the winner. In all the sugar-fueled excitement over the sampling, the winner’s full name wasn’t recorded. Chamber officials only know the mystery baker as “Kathryn.” Congratulations on a mean cookie, Kate.
