cARBONDALE – A tour featuring homes listed for sale for less than $500,000 will be held Sunday in Carbondale.
The event will begin with participants picking up a map at the Carbondale Recreation Center between 9:30 and 10 a.m. More than 25 homes will be on the tour in and around Carbondale. Participants can visit some or all of the homes in an open house format between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Real estate agents or the owners will be present at the homes.
Participants can pick up a ticket at the houses they visit and enter them in a drawing. The grand prize is a $100 gift certificate to a Carbondale restaurant of the winner’s choice. Gift certificates of smaller amounts to various Carbondale restaurants will also be awarded.
After the tour there will be a party with hot dogs, hamburgers and refreshments at the Carbondale Recreation Center from 1-3 p.m. The drawing will be held at 1:30 p.m.
First National Bank Residential Mortgage is hosting the home tour. The event is geared toward first-time homebuyers. Mortgage lenders will be available to discuss how homebuyers can pre-qualify for home financing.
ASPEN – The Aspen Writers’ Foundation and the Red Brick Center for the Arts will play host to an all-local Halloween “Boo Bash” in honor of the mysterious “To Kill a Mockingbird” character, Boo Radley, from 3-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31.

The event will be held in conjunction with The Big Read Roaring Fork Valley.
This free event will feature a Haunted House of Horror created by local high school students, a candy scavenger hunt, Spooky Story hour, arts and crafts, popcorn, pizza, cotton candy and other treats. Also on tap will be an old fashioned pie-baking contest, face painting and professional make-up salon, costume contest, psychic readings, last-minute costume shop, a performance by Hudson Reed Ensemble, screenings of the film “To Kill a Mockingbird,” a dunk tank with locals, and Tequila Mockingbird margaritas.
