ASPEN – The Aspen Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for induction in 2010. The Hall of Fame’s board of directors select the inductees, who will be honored at the annual banquet scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010.
Nomination forms and more information can be found at the Hall of Fame website, aspenhalloffame.org. The deadline for nominations is Sept. 15.
SNOWMASS VILLAGE – The Village Express six-pack lift in Snowmass will be open on Aug. 1-2, taking downhill and cross-country mountain bikers and hikers up 2,200 vertical feet to the top of Sam’s Knob.
Downhill courses open include the Blast the Mass Village Express Professional Downhill course, which allows mountain bikers to hit all the features, including the drop before Chunnel, the reworked Vermont section and the new drop in Hell’s Kitchen.
“Mountain bikers can also rip down the BC-style terrain park in Eureka, featuring teeter totters, elevated bridges and log rides,” said Dave Elkan, sponsorship and event manager for the Snowmass Tourism Office. “Cross-country and free riders can access Cross Mountain and Government Trail all from the lift.”
The Snowmass G3 KAR to Government to Scortch and Pro SD to Luge Trail also will be featured. The cost for Big Mountain Weekend lift tickets, which are available at the ticket pavilions at the mall and base village, is $20 for an all-day pass, or $30 for both days. Aspen/Snowmass Premier Winter Ski Pass holders ride at no charge. The Village Express will run 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
