News in Brief
The Aspen Youth Center has hired Jeff Kelley as its program director.
He will be responsible for all aspects related to programming at the center, located within the Aspen Recreation Center on Maroon Creek Road.
Kelley brings more than 12 years of experience working for the Boys and Girls Club, according to Sarah Visnic, the center’s executive director.
“We feel very fortunate to have found someone with the expertise that Jeff has,” she said in announcing the hiring. Kelley is looking forward to expanding the center’s programs, according to Visnic.
The center is a nonprofit organization that serves youths ages 8 to 19.
Eastbound Interstate 70 in Glenwood Canyon will be reduced to one lane through late August or early September while the Colorado Department of Transportation makes repairs to concrete expansion joints.
Crews will repair one joint on each end of a bridge about 4 miles west of the Hanging Lake Tunnel.
Steel plates were placed across the inside, or left, lane on Aug. 4, when a loose joint was discovered, to maintain it for vehicular travel. The right travel lane has remained closed 24 hours a day and will remain closed until the work is done.
Over the next three to four weeks, eastbound travel will be impacted during the day and night as repairs proceed. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive with caution near and through the work zone.
