The next Aspen School District Board of Education meeting will be 7 a.m. Wednesday. The meeting will be Wednesday because school will be closed Monday for Presidents Day.Copies of the agenda will be posted in each school’s front office, on the bulletin board outside the board room, and on the school board website at http://www.aspenk12.net under the “District Pages” category. The public is invited to the meeting.

Thanks to a rare encore screening, local film buffs can catch the popular documentary film “What Remains of Us” tonight at the Wheeler Opera House,The film, which won the 27th Aspen Filmfest Audience Favorite award in the documentary category last fall, is the story of a trip through Tibet by a woman of Tibetan descent whose family fled when the Chinese invaded in 1951.During the trip the woman, Kalsang Dolma, filmed statements by local residents without the permission of the Chinese government, thereby endangering not only her life but the lives of those who appear in the film.As a result, Dolma and the film’s producers, Francios Prevost and Hugo Latulippe, have insisted on tight security at all screenings, including tonight’s. No cell phones, cameras or electronic gear will be permitted in the theater, and all handbags or backpacks will be subject to search. The doors at the Wheeler open at 6:30 p.m., and patrons are urged to come early to allow extra time for security checks. The film begins at 7:30 p.m.
