The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office is hoping to enlist the public’s help in apprehending a man who allegedly assaulted two youths at a party outside Carbondale several weeks ago.Billy Joe Knoeppchen, 28, has an alias of William Kidd, and the wanted poster from the sheriff’s office also calls him Billy the Kid. He is described as 6-foot-2, 190 pounds and has “bronze” hair.Police say he hit one teenager in the face with a large file, breaking the youth’s jaw, and poked another partygoer in the eye. He faces charges of first- and second-degree assault.Knoeppchen has violent tendencies, according to the sheriff’s office. He has a tattoo that spells “KIDD” on his neck and another multicolored tattoo on his back.Anyone with information is asked to call 920-5299.

Tired of clutter, knickknacks, and generally unused stuff?Clean out those bedrooms, closets, kitchens and garages, and donate those hidden treasures to the Carbondale Rotary’s Annual Community Yard Sale.The yard sale, set for Oct. 7-9 in Carbondale, raises money for the Rotary Club’s scholarships and other community welfare programs.Donations can be dropped off at the vacant storefront next to the Paint Store in the Sopris Shopping Center (Highway 133 and Colorado Avenue), from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturdays. Call Pat at 963-8695 for additional arrangements if necessary.The Carbondale Rotary is unable to accept ski equipment, large appliances or computer equipment for the sale.
