New Year’s snow for Aspen?

ASPEN ” A storm system poised to push across western Colorado will bring snow to the mountains surrounding Aspen and Snowmass on New Year’s Day, according to the National Weather Service.
The weather service is calling for a 30 percent chance of snow after midnight Wednesday. Snow is likely in Aspen on Thursday, with accumulations of 3 to 5 inches and highs of 25 to 35, says the weather service’s latest update. Another 1 to 3 inches is possible Thursday night.
Friday’s forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies, a 20 percent chance of snow and highs of 25 to 35.
The weather service is predicting mostly cloudy skies for the weekend, with a continuing chance of snow and highs in the 20s.
A winter weather advisory has been issued for an area of northwest Colorado, including the Elkhead and Park mountains, where 5 to 11 inches of new snow are possible Thursday and Thursday night.
