New operator announced for Westin, Wildwood in Aspen

HEI Hotels and Resorts, a national hospitality management company based in Connecticut, will be the new operator of the Westin and Wildwood hotels in Snowmass Village, an owner of the complex confirmed Friday.

David Wasserman, principal of the hotels’ ownership group, said Thursday that many executive staff members at Snowmass’ largest hotel complex were being replaced. The Aspen Times learned Friday that the company those employees work for, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, also would no longer manage the property starting Wednesday.

HEI runs hotels with recognizable brands such as Hyatt, Westin and Hilton in their names. However, the Westin and Wildwood are not being rebranded, Wasserman said. The transition only means some staff changes, he added.

“This will continue to improve what we do every day,” Wasserman said.

Wasserman also said Thursday that the ownership of the complex — a joint venture between Wasserman Real Estate Capital LLC and Starwood Capital Group — is not changing. That group purchased the hotels, which have more than 400 guest rooms combined, in 2011 and renovated them in 2012.
