New Base Village plan is subject of forum tonight

Aspen Times writer

The first of a series of monthly community forums regarding Base Village begins this evening at 6:30 at the Snowmass Chapel. Tonight’s meeting at the chapel, 5307 Owl Creek Road, will feature a summary of Intrawest’s amended application from the Aspen Skiing Co.’s vice president of planning, Bill Kane. Following Kane’s presentation, Intrawest and Skico officials will answer citizens’ questions. “Information is our best asset, and we want the community to learn as much about Base Village as possible,” said Polly Briley, manager of public affairs for Base Village. “It’s really a communication effort,” Kane said. “The public hearing is a formal structure – this can be a little more open and freewheeling.” In the past month, a new Web site – – and a “Base Village Discovery Information Center” in Snowmass were launched to help provide information to the public.
