Neighborly appreciation

Dear Editor:Thank you to the Basalt Fire Department, especially the fire marshal, Bill Harding, and firefighter Holly, who got Bentley, my English springer spaniel, out of harm’s way last Thursday when the home next door at 7663 Frying Pan Road caught on fire.Thank you to all of the Basalt Fire Department, Carbondale fire department, BLM and National Forest team, Basalt police, Eagle County sheriff for their quick response, readiness and concern, which saved my home from danger.Thank you also to my friends, co-workers and neighbors who contacted me to let me know that there was a fire and to Robert from the Aspen Club, who moved my sprinklers to the west side of my property and checked for people in my home. It’s a comfort to know that a large number of people responded so quickly and bravely, and diverted what could have been a disaster. Heartfelt thanks to you all.Bambi Lynne BillacBasalt
