Needed: a few good angels

Aspen Times Staff Report

It’s that time of year and, once again, The Aspen Times is looking for a few good angels.

Local angels, “Angels of the Roaring Fork.”

In our weekly edition on Friday, Dec. 24, The Aspen Times will carry on an annual tradition by honoring some of the people who give of themselves all year long to make this valley a better place.

And, as before, we need your help to find those “angels.”

Some people give money – and that is certainly praiseworthy. Others give time – and love. And they are all deserving of recognition and thanks.

There are people who work to feed the hungry and clothe the poor. There are those who comfort the grieving and those who lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors staggering under burdens too heavy to carry – whether because of injury, illness or simple misfortune.

There are people who create and support organizations that do good work – and there are those who work on their own.

What better time of year to honor all these people than now, the Christmas season – a time for love and giving and charity?

So we are asking all of you, our readers, the citizens of this valley, to nominate your choices for the Angels of the Roaring Fork.

We will be printing nomination forms in The Aspen Times frequently throughout the next two weeks – but you don’t need to use our forms. Just write to us with the name of someone who deserves recognition for their good works in this valley – and add a sentence or two telling us who they are and what they have done to merit our thanks.

You can mail us the nominations (The Aspen Times, 310 E. Main St., Aspen, CO 81611) or drop them off at our Main Street office.

We’ll keep track of all those nominated, and in our weekly edition on Christmas Eve, we’ll profile some of the most deserving and, at least, mention most of the others.
