Need a job? New help in Aspen

ASPEN ” Aspen’s unemployed now have additional computers and job counseling to help them find jobs.

Colorado Workforce, Pitkin County and Colorado Mountain College’s Aspen campus have been holding community forums for the past several weeks to determine how best to support Aspen’s unemployed. Based on input, they are now beginning to offer additional services.

Colorado Workforce ” which provides services to job seekers ” has agreed to hold office hours in Aspen four days per month. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, it will offer services to job seekers at the Pitkin County Health and Human Services building. Later in April, CMC will also host some of these sessions at the Aspen campus.

Pitkin County is also installing two community computers in the day center at the Schultz Health and Human Services, for use by job seekers between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Computers are also available for use by all community members at CMC in Aspen. Pitkin County Senior Services has computers available for people, age 60 and older, to do job searches and write resumes.

The day center at Schultz Health and Human Services building is also continuing to serve lunch and dinner to those in need ” and could use volunteers to help.

More office hours, as well as workshops, will be announced at a later date.
