National Day of Prayer
Dear Editor:
We wish to acknowledge the outstanding work of Pastor Jim Tarr of Christ Community Church, with the help of many others, in setting up the first celebration of the National Day of Prayer at the Carbondale Rodeo Arena.
Twelve local churches were involved, plus organizations such as the Glenwood Pregnancy Center and Youth for Christ. There was terrific attendance; about 150 people filled the bleachers. A talented musical and vocal group representing several of the churches provided wonderful music.
After the event, someone mentioned the outdoor temperature was a bit chilly. We never felt it for all the enthusiasm and praise during the evening. This was our first such event in the Roaring Fork Valley. Watch for future announcements and please join us. You will depart with a strong sense of hope and joy.
